[Autre] NOMIS-ISTA Fellowship Program à IST Austria

The NOMIS-ISTA Fellowship Program offers excellent postdoctoral researchers the freedom to work on questions at the intersection of two or more scientific disciplines in a unique research environment, while also providing the security of outstanding scientific mentorship from proven leaders in their respective fields. A cross-discipline project proposal, to be co-supervised by two group leaders from different disciplines, identifies projects and fellows who demonstrate great flexibility, creativity and collaboration.

All research fields supported at ISTA will be eligible (see https://ista.ac.at/en/research). Should the specific interdisciplinary expertise required for the research project not be available at ISTA, an external secondary supervisor can be proposed. This external supervisor can host the fellow (secondment) for up to three months per fellowship year.

NOMIS and ISTA award two NOMIS Fellowships annually, following a two-stage application process (including interview).

Eligibility Requirements

At the time of recruitment (i.e. within 8 months of the application deadline), applicants must have been awarded their PhD and preferably have acquired their first postdoctoral experience and/or interdisciplinary training. However, the NOMIS Fellowship Selection Panel will also consider exceptionally promising candidates who fall outside the above criteria.
Applicants must have an existing affiliation to an academic/research institution (note: internal applicants must not have been employed at ISTA before January 1, 2026.
Following the initial evaluation round, top-ranked candidates must be available for a remote interview between November 1, 2026 and November 21, 2026.
If successful, the NOMIS Fellowship must commence within six months of notification.

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (https://epsci.stanford.edu) at Stanford University and the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the geology and mechanics of rocks and deformation of the Earth's crust. We seek candidates whose research addresses how rocks deform, fracture, flow, and interact with fluids in the upper crust, using field observation as a foundation and quantitative methods, including experimental, numerical, or analytical, to understand the underlying processes.

The department has longstanding strengths in structural geology, geomechanics, and tectonics, and seeks to hire in these areas broadly defined. We welcome applications from candidates working in regional tectonic and structural analysis, structural petrology and metamorphic systems, fault zone mechanics and rock deformation, reservoir and subsurface geomechanics, experimental rock physics and deformation, coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical systems, and the mechanics of magmatic-hydrothermal and mineral resources. The position is a key component of a new $50M O’Donnell Energy Initiative at SMU. • Oversee the full lifecycle of core research projects, from initiation and planning to resource coordination and delivery.

• Ensure projects align with the Center’s strategic goals; coordinate cross-functional teams of researchers and engineers.

• Establish and maintain global cooperation networks to support international projects.

• Develop efficient project management processes; identify and mitigate risks to ensure timely, high-quality completion.

• Manage or participate in the promotion and dissemination of project outcomes.

2. Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above with 3+ years of complex project management experience in academic institutions, think tanks, or the high-tech sector.

• Profound understanding of academic or think tank operations; ability to support interdisciplinary teams effectively.

• Excellent organizational and communication capabilities; adept at prioritization in a fast-paced environment.

• Strategic thinking, high responsibility, and a passion for supporting frontier research.

(7) Visiting Fellow / Visiting Scientist

1. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead or contribute significantly to frontier research projects in education, innovation, and sustainable development.

• Independently or collaboratively manage key project modules, from design to output production.

• Produce internationally influential research outcomes, including policy reports and top-tier journal papers.

• Participate in building global cooperation networks and engage in high-level international dialogue.

2. Requirements:

• Ph.D. in a relevant field from an internationally recognized institution.

• Outstanding academic record with high-quality representative works as a lead author (e.g., major research reports, key policy reports, high-level academic monographs, etc.).

• Imagination to define problems and dedication to producing original, influential results.

• Broad international perspective and successful experience in executing complex research projects.

• Fluency in Chinese and English.

• Deeply committed to the long-term development of humanity and driven by a desire to contribute wisdom to this cause.
